The Writer

The written word connects continents, tying and toying with our world daily— its power knows no bounds. Language is my passion, from the study of its theory in my Creative Writing undergrad to practising its utility in my placements in local arts and press, I have cultivated a deep appreciation for the skill of language manipulation and the desire to centre my career around the craft.

‘Writer’ is a fairly ambiguous title; the role of one all the more so. I mean, aren’t all literate individuals writers? From shopping lists to birthday cards, pens and paper to laptops, writers are ten a penny these days. The verb seems to cover all manner of documentary activity. I consider this widespread all-encompassing vagueness a comfort. What a gift to take from, and share the written word with the world!

Writing fills my time in the most wonderful of ways, as Arts Editor for LeftLion and Opulent Arts Magazine, Marketing Coordinator for Surface Gallery, and Arts Writer for Corridor8, my attention’s sole focus is writing about the Nottingham Arts scene. From exhibition reviews to artist spotlights, I have been fully immersed in Arts writing for a lengthy portion of my undergraduate studies and beyond.
